3 things you must do when you’re looking for an NLP certification program

Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a powerful set of tools to support your mindset, mental health and communication with yourself and others.

You can do so much once you’ve completed an NLP practitioner certification course and overcome challenges in life much easier.

If you’re currently looking for an NLP certification course, or you’re thinking of training as a coach but not sure what you’re looking for (because let’s face it, there are thousands of options out there) then here are a few things to think about.

  1. Listen & watch to the trainer before committing

There is nothing worse than having to listen to someone for a long time when you don’t resonate with them.

It will spoil your experience and learning if you don’t enjoy the persons company or teaching style so checking this before deciding on your course is important.

Check if they have videos on their social media platforms or website and watch a few of them. Listen to their podcast if they have one. Get a feel for how they are, who they are and what their drivers are for delivering the training in the first place.

  1. Check the course is accredited

All NLP courses when delivered properly contain the same content more or less. Ensuring the course you take is accredited through a well known board is essential to ensure the course meets the standards set by the governing body.

The well known & recognised boards we use are the ABNLP (American Board of NLP) which is the largest NLP board in the world and the AIP (Association for integrative psychology).

Its a bit tricky this step because it is possible (and sadly I’ve seen it happen) for training companies to accredit their course through what appears to be a governing body, yet the people delivering the course haven’t actually trained to the standard they should have to be able to deliver the training.

Make sure you do your research.

  1. Make sure there are ways to get support after training has finished

Once you have completed the course it’s important to check there is some way to get support once it’s completed.

Imagine you’ve done the course, you begin using it to help your clients or you begin working with coaching clients for the first time. You may find that you don’t use some of the techniques straight away and so if in 6 months you need to recap on something you really need it to be easy for you to dip in and out of.

I’ve had students come to me after training with other companies asking to retake NLP practitioners with me as they’ve had no further support from their training company and it’s been years since they trained and used any of it.

The support could be through prerecorded video content, a Facebook group or a website portal.

We have all of the above as I would much prefer you to come to me for help than try doing something you don’t feel confident in.

In a nutshell training as an NLP practitioner is an investment and you obviously want to ensure you’re making the right one. If you’re unsure of anything you are always welcome to ask me.

I do have an NLP practitioner & breakthrough coaching course coming up so if it is something you’d like to take action on then reach out.
